Putting Activated charcoal on your body may sound a bit strange but there are many benefits and reasons people are using it. Read on to find out why!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"3\">\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What Is Activated Charcoal?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Activated Charcoal (also called activated carbon), is obtained by burning natural materials such as wood, regular coal, peat or coconut husks.\u00a0 The source material is burned at a very high temperature to form a lightweight mass of carbonaceous charcoal.\u00a0 This means that all the oxygen was removed from the source material through controlled oxidation and\/or processing by steam.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to this process, the charcoal expands and creates a porous surface that traps toxins.\u00a0 Its natural ability to absorb has been boosted this way and has a higher efficiency for maximum usability in skin care. Absorption is a bulk phenomenon where molecules of absorbate enter into the absorbent. Adsorption is a surface phenomenon where the molecules simply attach to the surface of the adsorbent. Jul 8, 2020&#8217;.<\/em>\u00a0 For the non chemist we tend to refer to aDsorption incorrectly as aBsorption.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">How does it work?<\/h4>\n<p>Activated Charcoal binds other substances to its surface and holds them there, so molecules adhere just to the surface of the activated carbon. This is personal choice but if you want to try this, I recommend a small batch and thorough trials to ensure it works for you!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1653\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Blog-Charcoal-Face-Mask.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Blog-Charcoal-Face-Mask.jpg 700w, https:\/\/blog.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Blog-Charcoal-Face-Mask-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Blog-Charcoal-Face-Mask-600x429.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Prepping Charcoal Powder for Use<\/h4>\n<p>I prefer to moisten Activated Charcoal Powder with a little oil, but you can use Glycerine PF if you are putting it into a water based project.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In Melt and Pour Soap I use either <a href=\"https:\/\/aussiesoapsupplies.com.au\/isopropyl-alcohol\/\">Isopropyl Alcohol<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/aussiesoapsupplies.com.au\/glycerine-pf-vegetable\/\">Glycerine PF<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In Cold Process Soap I tend to use oil<\/li>\n<li>For anhydrous products, oil is the way to go!<\/li>\n<li>Regular clay masks I use Glycerine PF, and my baggie method.\u00a0 Trying to use water alone is a mess waiting to happen!\u00a0 If you have oil in the mask formula, you can of course moisten it with the oil content.<\/li>\n<li>For emulsified clay masks &#8211;
